Nashville again

Hey ya!

(Feel free to shake it like a Polaroid picture now...)

I am back in Nashville. I have a job wih a title. I am Senior Lecturer in Portuguese this semester. Too bad the title does NOT come with a salary to match. PORRA! Still, I might be able to get some work on my fricken' dissertation done. I say "might" because the classes I'm teaching are full and have lots of outside work (good for the students but not so much for me). Also, in one of my classes (the advanced class), fully half of the students do not have the textbook. I checked on that when I got here, & there were an ample number (not zillionz, but enough). Somehow or another, there was a run on the books or something & they are gone. Since the book comes from Brazil, I don't believe this bodes well for more arriving soon. SACO ISSO! That means more work. Frabjous. Maybe someday I can get over to the library to get some stuff for the thesis, but not quite yet. Yuckola.

Hope all are doing well! Tchauzinho!

Looks like the previous commenter saw your lament about the lack of high salary ;-)

Bush is forever saying that democracies do not invade other countries and start wars. Well, he did just that. He invaded Iraq, started a war, and killed people. What do you think? How does that work in a democracy again? How does being more threatening make us more likeable?Isn't the country with
the most weapons the biggest threat to the rest of the world? When one country is the biggest threat to the rest of the world, isn't that likely to be the most hated country?
Are we safer today than we were before?
We have lost friends and influenced no one. No wonder most of the world thinks we suck. Thanks to what george bush has done to our country during the past three years, we do!
